I love lavender – its scent, structure, and color. The feeling that having lavender around brings: calm, cozy, heartfelt elegance. I’ve had lavender as part of my scent repertoire at home for years.
Two years ago, I planted my first lavender plants at the farm. There’s a south-facing back slope that lands in the pond, creating a microclimate that embraces both snow and heat. My first experiments didn’t succeed too well, but I studied on – enrolled in lavender growing studies at the University of Michigan and invaded North American lavender grower groups on social media. Last year I planted my first self-grown plugs and greenhouse-grown young plants. This year, I’m expecting my first crop.
Lavender for SoundByNature is a lovely sidekick that brings beauty and calm to the workshops. Lavender scent is part of the complete sensory experience I create – whether we’re singing with forest sounds, working through emotions in ActingJazz sessions, or choosing flowers that tell stories.
